Heeeeeeeeeeer's Carrie!

Posted by Angie Lamoree on

Hi everyone!  Carrie Licatovich here - Angie asked me to write a blog post introducing myself and talking about the classes I have at 5 Little Monkeys Quilt & Sew.  Gosh, where to start.  I started down the quilting road in sort of an odd fashion - a friend of mine that I knitted with had broken her leg and needed a ride to the knitting gig - and she also is an avid quilter and asked if I might give her a ride to her quilt guild meeting.  At the second meeting the guild asked me to be the President of the guild (you know how these things go, don't you).  I said "no" as I didn't actually quilt - they were persistent.  They said no one would notice (hahahahahaha, I knew they would).  But, the guild President I became - and I loved it (and people were so kind to help me along the way - it takes a village guys).  I met so many fabulous people, started learning things left and right and before I knew it I was working at a quilt shop (and wow is that a fabulous place to learn so many things)! I only started quilting 9 years ago, but what a great time I've had.  Then at the quilt shop they started asking if I could teach some classes - sure - and boy did I learn that I LOVED that.  It's so satisfying to help people create and learn and folks seem to really dig my teaching style (and that helps keep me going too).  So here I am, rockin' like a hurricane :)

I just finished my first class at 5 Little Monkeys - a Laura Heine Collage Pattern workshop - and we all had a great time.  I'll be teaching this again in the fall in case you weren't able to make the class this time.  Next up is the Beatle Bag class on April 30th - such a cute project bag and it comes with plastic inserts all ready to fill with goodies.  May 28th is Running with Scissors - a great bag for holding and transporting all your scissors, tools etc (and would make an awesome make-up bag too). June 25th finds us making an awesome Yoga/Beach bag - so versatile!  On July 30th I'm teaching a modern English Paper piecing class using the Heartburst pattern by the fabulous Libs Elliott.  Then August 27th is the Take a Stand bag - great for draping the Running with Scissors bag over (our May 28th class), or it's a great tote for carrying small irons, projects, etc., September 17th is the Gifts for Giving (or keeping just for you) class where we'll make awesome tissue box cover ups and hot stuff oven mitts, then last but not least for the year on October 29-30th I'll have another Laura Heine workshop.

So, check out Angie's website at https://fivemonkeyquilts.com/ as all my classes are listed and on the calendar - would love to meet you and help you learn something fab and fun!  See you soon.

This will be a collaborative time to play and explore as we work on our fabric collage projects. When registering please indicate which pattern you will be doing. Your choice of pattern must be decided two weeks prior to your first class. All skill levels from confident beginner to advanced.
